Sorghum Sisters is Going Green! To minimise their global footprint, Sorghum Sisters have taken on a range of initiatives to become more environmentally aware. Some of these include:
Sorghum Sisters conducted a review of the use of energy, water consumption and waste disposal as well as storage and purchasing options. From here we've been able to find ways to improve and conduct business in a more environmentally sustainable way.
These reviews have been scheduled to happen regularly.
Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
EMP is ISO 14001 compliant. This is a set of management guidelines that are given for effective environmental management in the workplace.
This lets the Sorghum Sisters:
- identify and control the environmental impact of activities, products or services
- improve environmental performance on an ongoing basis
- implement a systematic approach to setting environmental objectives and targets, to achieving these and to demonstrating that they have been achieved.
Green Table Australia
The Green Table Australia program aims to raise awareness to members of the hospitality business about their consumption of water, energy and other resources. Through providing certification, they aim to reduce the impact food services are having on the environment.
Sorghum Sisters is working at the moment on becoming a certified Green Table Australia business.
All Sorghum Sisters staff are educated on being environmentally conscious. This has encouraged behavioral change within the staff that they not only use in the work place but can replicate at home.
